| Description | Director General of Jordan National Electricity Co., Mr. Ahmed Hayasat, was quoted in the media indicating that Egypt would export electricity to the west part of Iraq via the Jordanian network. Earlier in August 2004, all three countries have agreed in principle on extending a 200 Km long, 132 kV power transmission line from El Risha power station near the Iraqi boarders till Al Akashat zone to the west of Iraq. Sources of the Jordanian Ministry of Electricity have indicated that the project is not part of the Unified Arab Electricity Grid, which also includes Jordan, Egypt and other Arab countries and which first phase was completed in 2003. |
