Recent released statistics of the Ministry of Investments showed that cement production during the first 4 months of 2005 increased to 9.7 million tons marking 11.9 % while consumption during the same period increased by 9.6 % to 8.7 million. Cement prices during the period ranged L.E. 256 to L.E. 292 per ton in Greater Cairo, L.E. 263 to L.E. 280 per ton in Alexandria & L.E. 270 to L.E. 300 per ton in Upper Egypt. Cement & Clinker exports during the period were put at 1.3 million tons only marking an obvious decline below their level in the comparative period. Still cement export prices achieved tangible improvements during the period. Average clinker export price FOB reached $ 41 by the end of April 2005, up from $ 28 a year ago, while that of bulk cement, also FOB, reached $ 44 up from $ 33 a year ago. As to bagged cement export price also FOB so it exceeded $ 48 up from $ 43. |
