Egypt Minister of Culture has recently endorsed an L.E. 50 million project to convert Prince Said Halim Palace at Cairo down-town into a museum to demonstrate Cairo History. The Palace was built by the Prince by the end of the 19th Century for his wife, yet she chose to live in another Palace so he donated it to the Government which turned it into a school (Al Naseriya) until recovered by the Ministry of Culture last year. Implementing agency is the Supreme Council of Antiquities. Project is sponsored by the French Institute for Development Research. |
