Negotiations ongoing with the World Bank regarding $ 180 million soft loan to extend a new branch of the river Nile to serve 255,000 feddans land in west delta. The loan would be for repayment over 20 years and bears a 4 % annual interest. The loan would support the participation of private sector in financing and managing irrigation water resources. Months earlier the bank extended Egypt $ 120 million loan to support financing and management of integrated irrigation projects on 500,000 feddans both in the delta and the Nile valley. |
