First general constitutional shareholders meeting was held recently for the $ 350 million project to produce propylene & polypropylene located in Port Said. Shareholders of the company include the Egyptian Holding Co. for Petrochemicals, E - Gas, Egyptian Holding Co. for Natural Gas, GASCO - Egyptian Co. for Natural Gas, Oriental [Weavers] Holding and Oriental Petrochemicals, both of Mr. Mohamed Farid Khamis Group. Project targets to annually produce 350,000 tons of propylene. Project is scheduled to start production by the second half of 2008 and it targets to replace of $ 120 million imports and would cause an increase of $ 230 million of exports according to presently prevailing prices. It is projected to generate up to 2,500 employment opportunities during its implementation phase. |
