| Description | Petronas of Malaysia is now expected to start operating its first natural gas liquification line at Edkou Complex early 2005 disposing on an annual design capacity of 4 million tons. Figure would increase upon the completion of the second line during the first quarter of 2006 to 7.2 million tons worth $ 600 million. Project total investment costs are put at $ 1.7 billion. Earlier media reports indicated that output of the first line is sold for 20 years to Gas de France, holding 5 % stake in the project. Other shareholders in the scheme, located 50-Km to the east of Alexandria, include BG of the UK, EGPC and the Egyptian Holding Co. for Natural Gas. Project would greatly boost both business and life in Edkou. |
