| Description | Experts, participating on a conference held recently in Matrouh City, have concluded that expansion of medical herbs plantations on the North West Coast is the best way to combat desertification there-along. Papers presented to the conference indicated that almost 10,000 stocks of medical herbs, grown along that coast, dispose on numerous features & components to treat various diseases. Meanwhile, the said papers indicated that Siwa Oasis disposes on an underground water potential sufficient to serve up to 200,000 feddans land at a time. The conference was held under the auspices of Eng. Ahmed Al Leithy, Minister of Agriculture & General Mohamed Al Shahhat, Matrouh Governor. Leading speakers on the conference included Dr. Abdel Monem Hegazi, Mrs. Mahdiya Farid Gabr & Eng. Samer Al Mofti, of the Desert Research Institute. |
